Rotary Club of Augusta hosts speech contest for local students

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) – The Rotary Membership of Augusta is looking all Richmond and Columbia County highschool college students to take part within the annual Preston Johnson Speech Contest.

All public, personal, and home-schooled highschool college students in these two counties are eligible.

Every speech is proscribed to 3 to 4 minutes on the scholar’s alternative of one in all two subjects: the “Rotary 4-Method Check” or Rotary Worldwide’s theme for 2022-2023, “Think about Rotary.”

Winners will obtain $1,000 for first place and $500 for second place. They may then compete for a possibility to obtain a $1,000 scholarship on the Rotary Zone stage.

The deadline for registration is Feb. 17.

All public, personal, and home-schooled highschool college students in Richmond and Columbia County are eligible.(WRDW)

The Zone winner may also current their speech in April 2023 on the Rotary District Convention. The native contest might be held on the Knox Music Institute of the Miller Theater at 710 Broad Avenue on Feb. 27 at 8:30 a.m.
