SafeHomes forced to replace annual fundraiser because of Hurricane Helene

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) – SafeHomes says it is unable to host its largest annual fundraiser, Fake It to Make It, because of the impact of Hurricane Helene.

The nonprofit provides emergency shelter, legal advocacy, counseling, support groups, and job training to victims of domestic violence.

Columbia County has 2 students and a teacher on state superintendent advisory councils

SafeHomes says they will be raffling tickets to Night One of the Kicks 99 Guitar Pull in place of the normal fundraiser.

Every $50 donation will result in a raffle entry. The drawing will take place on Monday at noon on Facebook Live.

Georgia’s First Congressional District will remain red after Congressman Buddy Carter won again.

The congressman is not only excited for his own win, but for Trump’s as well, he told WTOC he believes this is a huge step in the right direction.

“I think it’s great for the country. I think that he’s going to get us back on track. I think he’s going to get our economy back on track. I think he’s going to secure our border. We’ll be well-respected on the world stage. We’ll get crime down in our cities. Donald Trump gets it,” said Congressman Carter.
