Driver arrested in death of bicyclist on Olive Road

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) – The Richmond County Sheriff’s Workplace has arrested a driver in reference to the demise of a bicyclist who was struck by a car three weeks in the past on Olive Highway.

In accordance with authorities, Franklin, White, 60, was arrested Wednesday and charged with misdemeanor murder by car and driving on the mistaken facet of the roadway.

The bicyclist, Marico Dorsey, 53, of Augusta, was hit by a car round 6 p.m. Jan. 11 on Olive Highway at Eagles Manner, close to a church.

After Dorsey was hit, 5 folks rushed onto the street to hope over him. They and the bicyclist had been then struck by a second car.

Franklin is the suspected driver of the primary car.

Dorsey died Jan. 26.

In accordance with the accident report, White was touring north on Olive Highway at its intersection with Eagles Manner, whereas one other car was touring south within the middle/left flip lane on Olive Highway.

The report states that White mentioned there was a car turning from Eagles Manner onto Olive Highway and he swerved into the middle/left flip lane on the southbound facet of Olive Highway to overlook the car.

He instructed deputies that when he swerved, he noticed the bicycle fly into the air when the entrance of his car struck the entrance of the southbound car.
