Augusta Canal set to be drained for about a month
AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) – The Augusta Canal might be drained subsequent week so work can start on a spread of initiatives.
The draining will begin Monday, with completion set for Feb. 13.
It’ll enable metropolis utility and water workers to finish some work, however the greatest challenge is from Georgia Energy. The electrical firm has a substation close to the Butt Memorial Bridge, and employees want to finish some wiring close to the canal.
In the meantime, tour boat operators are taking the chance to get the vessels inspected by the Coast Guard, as mandated each 5 years.
The canal must be refilled by mid-March.
