Accident involving 18-wheeler slows traffic on Riverwatch Parkway


AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) – A traffic accident involving an 18-wheeler occurred at Stevens Creek Road and Riverwatch Parkway Thursday evening, according to officials.

The busy intersection also seems to be blocked by a train. It appears that the 18-wheeler and the train collided.

Richmond County dispatch said the call came in at 6:20 p.m.

Officials say there are no injuries. As of 6:40 p.m., officials were still on scene.

Around 6:45 there were around a dozen spectators watching the scene.

Missing Augusta 16-year-old found over 2 months later


AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) – The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office safely located a missing runaway after she went missing in October, authorities told us Tuesday.

Authorities say Brianna Smith, 16, was safely located after being last seen on Oct. 29 in the 3100 block of Leaflet Way.

Back in November, Authorities released a photo of her and told us she frequents the area of Allen Homes off Laney Walker Boulevard, Jennings Homes off Olive Road and Wooten Road.

She has run away before, according to previous news reports.

The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office announced they safely located two of the three runaways that went missing last month.

Deputies said they safely located De’Aundre Jones and Elijah Johnson and returned them to their families on Dec. 31.

However, authorities did not give an update on the third runaway, Donovan Tanksley.

Authorities are now looking for four missing people.

Phillip Thomas, 58, Berina Dalton, 50, and Azariel Williams, 14, are still missing in the area.

1 man injured during shooting on Spring House Lane in Augusta


AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) – One person was transported to the hospital after a Monday night shooting in Augusta, according to the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office.

The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office responded to the 2300 block of Spring House Lane for the shooting at 7:37 p.m.

Have you seen any of these 3 missing people in the CSRA

When deputies arrived, they located an adult male who had been shot at least once.

Officials say the investigation is in its early stages, and no further information is available.

District, community cuts ribbon on new Wagener-Salley High School


AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) – Ahead of the first day back, Aiken County cut the ribbon on the new Wagener-Salley High School.

On Monday, students and parents toured the new Wagener-Salley High School.

Wayfair Outlet store opens this week at the Augusta Exchange

It is one of the older schools in the county and its makeover costs about $45 million.

The school was built in 1939 and was paid for by the state department and federal dollars.

School board members say a new demographic study will help offer better insight to even more schools as the population in Aiken County grows.
