Assault suspect taken into custody after brief chase, Atlanta police say
ATLANTA – The tip of a short police chase clogged a portion of Interstate 20 westbound simply west of Downtown Atlanta on Thursday afternoon.

Atlanta police say it occurred simply after 2:10 p.m. when officers obtained a name reporting an assault taking place alongside Forsyth Avenue close to Garnett Avenue.
Officers arrived on the scene and tried to detain the suspect sitting within the entrance seat of a car. Police say the suspect, as a substitute, put the car in reverse, putting the officer. The suspect then drove away from the scene.

Investigators say officers used a PIT maneuver to cease the car.
The driving force, whose title has not been launched, was taken into custody and brought to Grady Memorial Hospital to be checked out.
The officer who was struck was not injured.
Visitors alongside the interstate was backed up for about two hours as a result of incident.
