Arkansas near bottom of safest state list, study shows
JONESBORO, Ark. (KAIT) – A recent study placed Arkansas near the bottom of a list of the safest states.
According to our content partner, KARK, the study conducted by WalletHub said the Natural State ranked 48 out of 50 when it comes to the safest states to live in.
The study looked at personal and residential safety, financial safety, road safety, workplace safety, and emergency preparedness.
Other statistics, such as violent crime rates, unemployment, uninsured individuals and drivers, highway fatalities to population ratios, and the number of climate disasters were also included in the study.
Arkansas scored particularly low in workplace safety and road safety, scoring 48 out of 50 in both categories.
The state comes in at 45th for personal and residential safety and 41st for financial safety.
The state’s highest-scored category was emergency preparedness at 33 out of 50.
Arkansas is followed by Mississippi and Louisiana on the last with the safest state in the country being Vermont, according to the study.
