Tennessee football flips four-star linebacker Jaedon Harmon from Alabama in 2025 class

Four-star linebacker Jaedon Harmon flipped his commitment from Alabama to Tennessee football on Sunday, bolstering the Vols’ already strong 2025 recruiting class.

Harmon, a 6-foot-1, 215-pounder from Rome, Georgia, had been committed to the Crimson Tide since April 14. But he changed his mind and pledged to play for the Vols.

“I want to thank the entire Alabama staff for believing in me and giving me the opportunity to play for a great program! Respect my decision,” Harmon posted on X, formerly known as Twitter, while tagging UT linebackers coach William Inge and coach Josh Heupel.

Harmon had scholarship offers from almost 40 schools, including Alabama, Auburn, Ohio State, Texas, Southern Cal, Clemson, Florida State, Florida, LSU, Michigan and Miami.

It’s a notable recruiting win because Harmon is the No. 155 player and No. 18 linebacker in the 2025 class, according to 247Sports Composite rankings.

But it’s also eye-opening because Alabama dominated recruiting when it came to linebackers under former coach Nick Saban. With first-year coach Kalen DeBoer now at the helm of the Crimson Tide, UT pulled off a recruiting victory by landing Harmon.

Notably, Inge, the UT linebackers coach that Harmon tagged on social media, was DeBoer’s linebackers coach at Washington. He turned down an offer to coach at Alabama to join Heupel’s staff.

This marks back-to-back wins over Alabama over the weekend. On Saturday, UT landed five-star recruit David Sanders, the No. 1 offensive tackle in the 2025 class, after he considered Alabama, Georgia, Clemson, Ohio State and South Carolina.

Harmon is entering his senior season at Rome. As a junior, he had 80 tackles, five sacks, eight tackle-for-loss, five quarterback hurries, three pass breakups and one interception.

Harmon can sign with Tennessee on Dec. 4, when the early signing period begins. He is the Vols’ 23rd commitment in the 2025 class.

Sanders is the lone five-star in the class, according to 247Sports Composite ratings.

Harmon joins quarterback George MacIntyre, offensive lineman Douglas Utu, tight end Da’Saahn Brame, safety Lagonza Hayward, defensive lineman Mariyon Dye, wide receiver Travis Smith, defensive lineman Ethan Utley, linebacker Christian Gass, wide receiver Radarious Jackson, edge rusher Jayden Loftin, offensive lineman Nic Moore and tight end Jack Van Dorselaer (all four stars).

The Vols also are bringing in running back Justin Baker, safety Sidney Walton, offensive tackle Antoni Kade Ogumoro, cornerback Tre Poteat, cornerback Dylan Lewis, defensive lineman Charles House, defensive lineman Darrion Smith, wide receiver Joakim Dodson and star cornerback Tyler Redmond (all three stars).

Keith Urban Plays Surprise Concert, Preps Brisket Behind the Counter at a Buc-ee’s in Alabama

Keith Urban gave just a few hours’ notice before performing a free concert Friday night (Aug. 16) in the parking lot of a large convenience store and gas station in north Alabama.

Hundreds of people turned out for the show in Athens, about 100 miles (161 kilometers) south of Nashville. It was outside a Buc-ee’s, a chain of roadside stores known for barbecue.

“I came down to this Buc-ee’s about a month ago. And when I left, I went, ‘It’d be kind of fun to do a show there,’” Urban told the crowd during the concert, according to an Instagram video posted by WAFF-TV in Huntsville, Alabama.

Urban said his “caveman brain” told him it would be fun to set up a little stage for a small audience.

“I swear to you, I thought maybe 100, 200 people,” Urban said as a video showed a larger crowd.

People started gathering hours before the show, news outlets reported.

“I was at work and we heard it on the radio that there was going to be a surprise concert at Buc-ee’s in Athens,” Cindy Wilson told FOX 54 WZDX-TV in Huntsville. “And I was like, ’Oh my God, it’s on my way home.’ And it’s 15 minutes from my house. So I couldn’t believe it.”

While he was at the store, Urban also worked behind a food counter. A video showed him wearing a Buc-ee’s T-shirt and apron as he poured barbecue sauce on some brisket and chopped the meat into smaller pieces.
