Police investigating a triple homicide in Vermont
Vermont State Police are investigating a triple homicide at the intersection of Vermont Route 133 and Kelley Hill Road.
PAWLET, V.T. (WNYT) – Vermont State Police are investigating a triple homicide at the intersection of Vermont Route 133 and Kelley Hill Road.
Major Daniel Trudeau of Vermont State Police said they received multiple 911 calls around 3:45 Sunday morning with one call reporting a suspicious person with blood on him near a home.
“One was a 911 call, describing a male person that they saw with some blood on them. And then, another call came in shortly thereafter, and it was actually that same person that had some blood on the clothing,” Trudeau said.
Then police told NewsChannel 13 that the person with blood on him called 911 and gave information about dead people inside the home he was staying at. Police then responded to the home on Route 133 and began their search.
“They searched through the house. So, they did find, some deceased victims in the house,” said Trudeau.
Police confirmed Sunday night that they found three deceased bodies when they entered the home.
Trudeau said police have detained the man but have not arrested or charged him yet.
“We still have him detained, still chatting with him, trying to get some information,” Trudeau said.
Investigators are using the Pawlet Volunteer Fire House as a base camp for the investigation due to its proximity to the crime scene.
“We have a search warrant for the house. The bodies that will be removed tonight and will be brought to the office of the chief medical examiner for autopsy,” said Trudeau.
The deceased have not been identified at this time.
Police also said that they believe this was an isolated event with no identified threat to the community.
The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is being asked to contact the Vermont State Police at their Rutland Barracks at (802) 773-9101.

3 people found dead at Vt. home; deaths considered suspicious, police say
Vermont State Police are investigating the suspicious deaths of three people whose bodies were found Sunday at a home in the Rutland County town of Pawlet.
State police say they received a call reporting a suspicious person early Sunday morning, with the subsequent investigation leading troopers to a residence on Vermont Route 133, where the bodies were ultimately discovered.
Little other information has been released, as police caution that the investigation is in its early stages, but investigators do believe at this point that this was an isolated event, and there’s no identified threat to the community.
Detectives are canvassing the area and conducting interviews while the crime scene search team processes the location, according to police.
The bodies will be taken to the chief medical examiner’s office in Burlington for autopsies to determine the cause and manner of their deaths. Names will be released following confirmation of identities and notification of relatives, police said.
Anyone with information that could assist investigators is asked to call state police at 802-773-9101. Anonymous tips can also be submitted online at https://vsp.vermont.gov/tipsubmit.

Top 10 Vermont high school football rankings (9/15/2024)
It’s that time of the year, everyone. High school football games kicked off throughout the state of Vermont Sep. 5-7 and there was plenty of great action taking place.
The No. 1 team in the Green Mountain State is Champlain Valley Union followed by a new No. 2 in Rutland.
Here’s the complete breakdown of Vermont’s elite high school football teams, heading into Week 4 of the 2024 season, as we see it.
The Redhawks kept up their winning ways by taking care of business and cruising to a 40-6 victory over Colchester. Next week Champlain Valley Union host Bellow Frees Academy.
We make more sense of this ascension up the rankings because of the Raiders’ win over Middlebury. Rutland elevates up the chain and at No. 2 this week.
The Hurricanes bounced back from their loss and throttled Battleboro 41-14 to notch win No. 2. Next up is a date with No. 4 Middlebury (below).
Don’t thin many of us saw the Tigers dropping this weekend’s game against Rutland, but here we are. Now Middlebury gears up for a showdown with Hartford.
The Wasps have been pretty dominant over the first three games, out-scoring opponents 123-41.
It is Week 3 where Burlington ended up losing itsfirst game, a 28-7 loss to a talented Essex bunch. Doesn’t get any easier against U-32 this week.
A 35-13 victory over Milton keeps the undefeated roll going for Bellow Free Academy/Fairfax. Next up is a matchup against Poultney.
The Vikings have continued to look impressive heading into Week 4, as they routed U-32 40-23 last week. Lyndon has piled up 111 points in three weeks.
Looking at what the Green Knights have done already, they deserve to make their way into the ranks. They’re coming off a 52-24 victory over Mt. Abraham.
Likely the biggest margin of victory for any team in these rankings was by Fair Haven, 56-8 over Mt. Mansfield.
