ST. ALBANS, Vt. (WCAX) – Vermont State Police say a “police operation” that took place in St. Albans Wednesday afternoon is over.

The operation was centered on Lower Welden Street in the Houghton Park neighborhood.

Police said it was part of an ongoing investigation by the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department, and multiple law enforcement agencies assisted, including the Vermont State Police Tactical Services Unit. However, they did not provide any other details about the investigation.

Police asked to the public to avoid the area while the operation was underway. They said they were focused on that specific location, and there was no indication of any danger to the broader public.
