RI Correctional Officer Indicted on Manslaughter in Inmate Death

A Rhode Island correctional officer has been indicted on manslaughter costs within the dying of an inmate in 2021, in response to the Rhode Island Legal professional Normal’s Workplace.

Geoffrey Peters, 43, who was working for the Rhode Island Division of Corrections on the Grownup Correctional Establishments (ACI), faces the cost in reference to the dying of inmate Timothy McQuesten.

On January 18, 2021, correctional officers discovered inmate Timothy McQuesten unresponsive in his cell, in response to WJAR-TV. He was taken to Rhode Island Hospital the place he was pronounced useless.

McQuesten had been charged with the murders of a pair in Lincoln.

Prosecutors say that Peters owed an obligation of care to McQuesten and that he was criminally negligent in that obligation. Extra specifics weren’t instantly launched.

Peters is scheduled to be arraigned at Windfall County Superior Court docket on July 20, 2022.
