An incident at the ACI on Friday required the Rhode Island Department of Corrections to place the facility on lockdown.
An officer was reportedly injured.
Spokesperson Ryan Crowley issued the following statement to GoLocal:

“There was an incident at Maximum Security that required a lockdown for the safety of staff and inmates alike. Department staff and emergency personnel are responding to the incident.
Preliminary reports indicate a fight between two inmates — which occurred earlier this evening — prompted a response from officers.
During the initial response, a correctional officer suffered minor injuries and was treated on scene before seeking treatment offsite and has now returned to work.
Correctional Officers will interview potential witnesses.”
