Over the past decade. GoLocal has reached out to many Rhode Island experts and leading influencers in a range of fields to ask them who are the greatest living Rhode Islanders.
The list was first published in 2016 and has been updated four times since.

The criteria for inclusion were defined, but of course, it has elements that are amorphous. First, they need to have lived and worked in Rhode Island — they must be significantly connected.
They couldn’t have just gone to college in Rhode Island and then gone on to do great things, nor could they have worked just a small portion of their careers. Thus, Family Guy creator and RISD grad Seth MacFarlane does not qualify.
This newly updated list includes three Rhode Islanders, all in the midst of doing big things.
To be a living great Rhode Islander — this must be your state in residence or spirit.
