The Rhode Island State Police (RISP) introduced on Sunday the passing of Ok-9 Ruby, age 11 ½. 

She was euthanized on Friday, Might 13 following a sudden, acute, and untreatable sickness.

“At this time the Rhode Island State Police household is mourning the demise of Ok-9 Ruby,” stated Colonel Darnell S. Weaver, RISP Superintendent. “Her partnership with Corporal O’Neil was a particular one and their search and rescue work in our Ok-9 Unit was an amazing service to the Rhode Islanders who’ve wanted their assist. Her award-winning rescue impressed us and we’re grateful for her years of service.”

About Ruby

Ok-9 Ruby served with the Rhode Island State Police for 11 years and was dealt with by Corporal Daniel O’Neil.

She was a mixed-breed canine who was adopted from the Rhode Island SPCA and was one of many first shelter canines educated to serve with RISP.

Throughout her profession, she and Corporal O’Neil participated in lots of search and rescue missions as a part of the Ok-9 Unit and volunteered with the Neighborhood, Range and Fairness Unit, showing in colleges and at many occasions.
