Proposed legislation in Pennsylvania would require Uber, Lyft drivers to take extra safety steps
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) — A Pennsylvania lawmaker has proposed new legislation aimed at increasing safety for passengers using rideshare apps like Lyft and Uber.
According to the memo written by Rep. Tim Brennan (D-Bucks County), 50% of all 18-to-29-year-olds and 24% of adults aged 50 and older have used a rideshare service.
Under the new proposed legislation, drivers would need to take measures to properly identify themselves throughout their vehicle, including identification with their photo, name, and license plate number of vehicle that they’re driving.
There are three main focused of the proposed legislation and drivers will need to have the following:
- Markers or signs that can be illuminated
- Barcodes in the rear and passenger windows
- Credential placards
Currently, the bill has yet to be introduced and Rep. Brennan is asking other members to support to the proposed legislation.

Aerosmith ‘Peace Out’ tour with Teddy Swims in Pittsburgh: Where to buy tickets for under $100
Aerosmith’s rescheduled “Peace Out” farewell tour resumes in Pa. in September.
The first concert on the iconic rock band’s tour is Friday, Sept. 20, 2024, at PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh.
While The Black Crowes are the opening act for the tour, on Sept. 20 the opening act will be Teddy Swims who said on Instagram that it will be “a dream come true.” Swims said also said on Instagram that his headlining, “I’ve Tried Everything But Therapy” tour is sold out.
The “Peace Out” tour also includes a stop on Sept. 23 at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia.

Aerosmith had postponed the original “Peace Out” farewell tour after Steven Tyler, 76, said he had vocal chord damage in September 2023. Tyler needed time to recover. All previously purchased tickets for postponed shows will be honored, the band said. Aerosmith did perform on Sept. 2, 2023, in Philadelphia. In late September, the tour was postponed.
The tour runs through February 2025 with the last two shows being on Feb. 23, 2025, at Madison Square Garden in New York City and Feb. 26 in Buffalo, New York.

Zach Bryan could be stopping into a Pittsburgh bar soon ahead of his new album coming out
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) — Zach Bryan has a new album coming out soon and he just may be making a stop here in Pittsburgh to have a drink with some lucky fans.
The country music sensation announced his new album titled ‘The Great American Bar Scene’ will be coming out on July 4.
Ahead of the album’s release, Zach Bryan said that he’s chosen 23 bars throughout the country that ’embody the spirit of American culture.’
Among that list of 23 bars is Brillobox in Pittsburgh’s Lawrenceville neighborhood.
Those bars will begin playing some songs from the new album starting on Monday.
While Bryan said he would love to play a show at all of those bars, it’s just not possible, but said he will be visiting a few of them to have a drink with people.
It’s unclear when he could potentially pop back into Pittsburgh to visit Brillobox.
