PITTSBURG, Kans. — A brand new partnership has been formalized in Southeast Kansas.

The Metropolis of Pittsburg has entered into an intergovernmental settlement with the Kansas Division of Well being and Setting. It will permit KDHE to offer environmental providers to town on a per-project foundation.

Deputy Metropolis Supervisor Jay Byers says Pittsburg will now contract straight with KDHE, and profit from the group’s relationship with the Environmental Safety Company.

“It makes it simpler for us to get the work performed. They’ve connections to contractors. They’ve some capabilities in-house and a substantial amount of familiarity with this sort of work in order that manner town can work with the state so we will get these initiatives performed and doubtless extra cheaply,” Byers mentioned.

The town is hoping to make use of the settlement to deal with work across the Mid-Metropolis Renaissance space. This might be close to the Mission Clay Merchandise property, which town has labored with the EPA on up to now.
