Pennsylvania man dies, passenger injured after chain-reaction crash at red light in Sumter County, FHP says

SUMTER COUNTY, Fla. – A Pennsylvania man died and his passenger was severely injured Wednesday after their SUV was rear ended by a pickup truck at an intersection close to Wildwood, inflicting a chain-reaction crash that concerned six different autos, in line with the Florida Freeway Patrol.

The 72-year-old man and his passenger within the SUV, a 71-year-old lady — each of Edensburg, Pennsylvania — had stopped at a purple mild within the outdoors, westbound lane on State Street 44 at its intersection with Morse Boulevard, troopers stated.

In accordance with a crash report, a pickup truck pushed by a 49-year-old Williston man didn’t gradual for the visitors sign and collided with the SUV at 5:35 p.m., thrusting it into the six different autos.

The Pennsylvania man was taken to an space hospital the place he later died, and his passenger was hospitalized with critical accidents, troopers stated. The Williston man obtained minor accidents within the crash, as did the drivers of the opposite six autos, the report states.

Troopers stated the occupants of the SUV and pickup truck had been all sporting seatbelts within the crash.
