BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – September 23 through 27 is Falls Prevention Awareness Week, aiming to keep older adults in the Granite State safe.

The New Hampshire State Fire Marshal’s office says falls are one of the top causes of injury and death for people over 65, with 239 deaths, over 4,000 hospitalizations, and over 14,000 ER visits in New Hampshire in 2021.

Advocates are calling attention to strategies to reduce falls like exercise programs, medication management, vision improvement, and reduction of home hazards.
