Bear ‘showing no fear of humans’ causes New Hampshire campground to close


BARTLETT, N.H. — A New Hampshire campground is closed till additional discover on account of a bear that isn’t afraid of people, officers say.

The U.S. Forest Service for the White Mountain Nationwide Forecast introduced the closure of Fourth Iron Campground on Monday.

“Forest Service personnel have recognized a black bear that has been habituated to receiving meals rewards and is displaying no worry of people,” the service mentioned. “For public security, all entry to Fourth Iron Campground is prohibited right now.”

Methuen woman airlifted after motor vehicle crash in Pelham, NH


PELHAM, N.H. — A 26-year-old Methuen woman sustained serious injuries in a single-vehicle crash on Friday morning and was airlifted to a hospital for treatment.

The Pelham Police said Nicole Lugo was the driver and sole occupant of the vehicle.

The crash occurred on Main Street and was reported to emergency crews at about 9:50 a.m. When police arrived on scene, they said they found a gray Honda Civic “embedded in a utility pole.”

Police said an investigation revealed that the Civic had veered off the road and collided head-on with the pole.

Lugo was airlifted to a nearby hospital.

The road remained closed for more than four hours while utility crews worked to replace the damaged utility pole.

Crash impacts traffic on I-95 northbound in NH


New Hampshire State Police responded to a crash Friday evening on Interstate 95 northbound in Portsmouth.

The crash happened near Exit 5 and closed the highway in the northbound direction, but police said around 7:45 p.m. that one lane had reopened.

Authorities did not have any word on injuries.

Drivers are being asked to avoid the area if possible. Delays and detours are expected.
