Massachusetts reaches multi-million settlement with Holyoke Soldiers’ Home | ABC6
HOLYOKE, Mass. (WLNE) — The state of Massachusetts reached a multi-million settlement with households of the Holyoke Troopers’ Residence.
The house was the positioning of a COVID-19 outbreak within the spring of 2020. Almost 80 residents died of COVID-19 and plenty of others had been sickened.
Gov. Charlie Baker introduced on Thursday that the state pays $56 million to these households.
The settlement will cowl veterans who lived on the house from March 1, 2020 by June 23, 2020 — that obtained sick or died from COVID-19.
Baker added that whereas this settlement gained’t carry again “family members,” there shall be “a way of closure.”
A report discovered that the house’s administrator made a collection of errors that led to the outbreak.
The settlement is topic to approval by the federal district court docket for Massachusetts.
