Wrong-Way Driver Killed in Crash on I-295 in Maine

A 47-year-old man died after driving his bike the fallacious means and crashing into one other automobile on Interstate 295 in Maine on Sunday evening.

John Rivard, of Lewiston, was pronounced lifeless on scene. Maine State Police mentioned Rivard was driving north within the southbound lanes when he struck one other automobile head on round 8 p.m.

Rivard was driving a black 2011 Harley Davidson bike and merged onto I-295 from the exit 15 southbound off-ramp.

The opposite automobile concerned was a brown 2010 Honda Accord. The motive force of that automobile, from Brunswick, was not injured.

Each I-295 southbound lanes had been closed to site visitors by the Maine Division of Transportation for roughly two and a half hours to permit police time to course of the scene. The crash stays underneath investigation.

Maine State Police had been assisted by Yarmouth police, Falmouth police, the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Workplace and Yarmouth hearth.
