Having trouble finding a concert ticket? It may be the state you live in.

Did you know Connecticut ranks amongst the most challenging states in the U.S. to get a concert ticket?

A new ranking by JustGamblers determined the likelihood of getting a ticket in a given state “based on the number of venues visited across 20 of this year’s biggest tours, average venue capacity, how often an act stops in each state, and local ticket demand.” This calculation resulted in a Likeliness Score.

The data also looked at how many times an artist would visit the same state, or if they skipped it entirely.

Connecticut was ranked 5th worst at 7/40, with four of the five worst states all being from the Northeast:

1. Rhode Island: 3/40
2. New Hampshire: 5/40
3. Delaware: 5/40
4. North Dakota: 6/40
5. Connecticut: 7/40

Rhode Islanders, for example, were 64% more likely to get tickets in New York compared to Connecticut, Vermont, or Massachusetts.

In contrast, California topped the list for best states for securing a concert ticket with a score of 23/40.

“Overall, California boasts the highest likelihood of securing tickets, largely due to how often artists stop in the state and the high number of venues they visit,” according to JustGamblers.

No states from the Northeast made the top five:

1. California: 23/40
2. Illinois: 23/40
3. Minnesota: 22/40
4. Florida: 20/40
5. Texas: 19/40

Minnesota boasts the best venues for attending a concert, while California and Illinois tied for most-visited states to see a concert.

“There’s been a lot of discussion lately about the difficulty of securing tickets for tours, especially given complications with platforms like Ticketmaster and the rising prevalence of scalpers,” said a JustGamblers spokesperson. However, beyond this, it’s clear that some states are at a greater disadvantage than others based on variables like local competition, venue availability, and how frequently a state hosts a show – and, surprisingly, some states are ignored by artists altogether.”
