Source: Patriots re-signing WR Kendrick Bourne to 3-year deal

The Patriots are re-signing wide receiver Kendrick Bourne to a 3-year, $19.5 million deal, according to a source.

The contract carries a maximum value of $33 million and includes a $4.2 million signing bonus, per source.

Bourne had been set to hit free agency Monday at noon. The 28-year-old returns after tearing his ACL last October, though he is expected to be ready for the start of next season, per source.

Bourne was the Patriots’ leading receiver at the time of his injury, which interrupted what was on pace to be a career season. He finished with 37 catches for 406 yards and four touchdowns. Bourne returns after the team re-signed tight end Hunter Henry earlier this week to a 3-year deal.

Bourne originally joined the team as a free agent in 2021 on a 3-year, $15 million contract. He enjoyed a breakout campaign that year, catching 55 passes for 800 yards and five touchdowns. Bourne endured a down season in 2022, then rebounded in the best shape of his life last year before tearing his ACL.

This offseason, he expressed a desire to return to New England, where he rejoins JuJu Smith-Schuster, DeVante Parker, Pop Douglas, Tyquan Thornton and Kayshon Boutte, among others, on the team’s wideout depth chart. Bourne brings a rare versatility within that group, being able to play inside the slot and outside. The 6-foot-1, 205-pounder is also the team’s best run-after-catch player, though the Patriots are still expected to be in the market for receiver help in free agency.

Man stabbed near fish market in Boston

A man stabbed near a fish market in Boston late Saturday is expected to survive his injuries, according to police.

Officers were approached by an unknown 47-year-old man in the area of 3099 Washington St. around 9 p.m. Saturday. The man, who was bleeding from his neck and arms, told police he was robbed for his scooter, Boston Police Department spokesperson Officer Mark Marron said.

The man was taken to a nearby hospital to be treated for injuries that are not life-threatening, Marron told MassLive.

Police at the scene of the stabbing followed the blood trail of the man, which led them to Star Fish Market at the corner of Atherton Street and Washington Street. Multiple witnesses said there was a fight in the parking lot, everyone ran and they saw a man walking around bleeding afterward, according to Marron.

The stabbing remains under investigation. No arrests had been made as of Sunday afternoon, Marron said.

Game 5, if needed, would be at TD Garden on June 17. Game 6 would be at Dallas on June 20, and Game 7 in Boston on June 23.

Boston College Football Recruit Makes Official Visit, The Rundown: June 2, 2024

Joshua Guerrier, a class of 2025 recruit, took his official visit to Boston College on Friday.

The Ocoee, Fla., native is a three-star recruit that ranks No. 615 nationally, No. 44 in athletes, and No. 84 in the state of Fla., according to 247Sports Composite. Boston College sent an offer to the rising senior on March 10.

The Eagles currently have three commitments from this class in athletes Nolan James and TJ Green and wide receiver Nedrick. All recruits are three-stars.
