One dead, one injured after double shooting in Old City: police
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — One man is dead and another is injured after a double shooting in Old City Saturday night, police say. The shooting happened just steps from Independence Hall on a busy night.
The entire area of the intersection of 5th and Chestnut Street was blocked off Saturday night after the shooting happened just after 9 p.m.
Officers responded to 100 S Independence Mall E and they say a 29-year-old man was shot twice on the right side of his torso and was pronounced dead a little before 9:30 p.m. after being taken to Jefferson Hospital.
We saw several shell castings at the scene and at least two motorcycles.
A couple was sitting on a bench near Independence Hall when they suddenly heard the shots.
Police also tell us another man drove himself to Pennsylvania Hospital in a white Cadillac with bullet holes after he was shot in the arm. They’re holding the Cadillac as part of the investigation.
We’re still waiting to hear back from police on how exactly they believe the vehicle is related to this shooting.
