WisEye Morning Minute: Wisconsin Natural Resources Board Appointments

As reported by WisPolitics.com, Republican lawmakers pressed appointees to the Natural Resources Board on whether the state’s wolf management plan should include a statewide population goal. Gov. Tony Evers’ appointees didn’t shut down the possibility of setting one during the confirmation hearing. Five of Evers’ appointees to the seven-member board are awaiting confirmation. Three spoke before the committee including Dylan Jennings, a doctoral fellow at UW-Madison and citizen and former tribal council member of the Bad River Band of Lake Superior Chippewa. GOP Committee Member Sen. Mary Felzkowski (R-Irma) questioned Jennings on a solution to balancing issues and concerns from tribal members and constituents around the wolf hunt. Jennings said he could see himself supporting a wolf hunt if the DNR has solid, accurate data on the wolf population.
