Spearfish celebrates the world record temperature change with Chinook Days


RAPID CITY, S.D. (KOTA) – January thirteenth is the kick-off for the 4th Annual Chinook Days in Spearfish. The northern hills group rallies collectively to have a good time the document temperature change that may be a world document. In simply two minutes the temperature rose 49 levels on January 22, 1943 due to the chinook winds.

GIRLS REGION 4A:  Sioux Falls Christian suffocates Lennox, Dakota Valley dethrones Vermillion


SIOUX FALLS & NORTH SIOUX CITY, S.D. (Dakota News Now) – There will be a new State Champion in South Dakota Girls Class A Basketball.

Reigning champion Vermillion saw their bid to repeat come to an end in the Region 4A semifinal/SoDAK 16 qualifiers in a battle of top five ranked teams on Thursday night.

-Sioux Falls Christian, ranked #2 in Class A, using suffocating defense that held Lennox to just 10 points after seeing their lead trimmed to 24-23, qualifying for the SoDAK 16 with a 49-33 victory. Maya Nelson led the Chargers with 13 points.

-Host Dakota Valley, ranked #4 in Class A, held off a furious charge from defending state champion Vermillion, ranked #3, to advance to the SoDAK 16 62-54 and end the Tanagers bid to repeat as state champs. Camryn Sommervold’s had a game-high 17 points for the Panthers who had four players in double figures. Vermillion’s Taylor Reuvers led all scorers with 25 points.

How to watch, buy tickets for the South Dakota high school state wrestling tournament


On Thursday, the best high school wrestlers in South Dakota will make their way to Rapid City to compete for state title sin their individual brackets.

The SDHSAA state wrestling tournament will take place from Thursday, Feb. 27 through Saturday, March 1 at the Summit Arena at The Monument in Rapid City. If you’re hoping to see the matches live or watch them from home, we have all the information you need to know to watch your favorite team and wrestlers in action.

How to buy tickets for the South Dakota high school state wrestling tournament today

All tickets for the South Dakota state wrestling tournament will be available for purchase at the tournament site or online here. General admission tickets for the day cost $18 for adults and $12 for students. Additional fees may apply when buying online.

All high school, middle school, and elementary students are permitted to buy student tickets. Preschool through kindergarten children are admitted free. College students are considered adults for SDHSAA ticketing purposes.

How to watch the South Dakota high school state wrestling tournament today
