One killed in three-vehicle crash Sunday involving six people in Fall River County

EDGEMONT, S.D. — One man died Sunday afternoon close to Edgemont in a three-vehicle crash involving six individuals.

Shortly after 5 p.m. Sunday, authorities in Fall River County had been known as to mile marker on U.S. Freeway 18, roughly three miles east of Edgemont, for a report of a three-vehicle crash.

In line with the South Dakota Freeway Patrol, a 2011 Toyota Tundra was eastbound on U.S. Freeway 18 when it slowed right down to make a left flip onto Crimson Canyon Highway.

The Toyota was rear-ended by an eastbound 2008 GMC Sierra pickup. The collision despatched the Toyota into the westbound lane the place it was struck by a 2004 Chevrolet Silverado Pickup.

The Toyota tipped over and the 57-year-old male driver of the Toyota was pronounced useless on the scene. His seat belt use is below investigation.

The 53-year-old male driver of the Chevrolet pickup and a 57-year-old feminine passenger each suffered critical non-life threatening accidents. Each had been air transported to a Speedy Metropolis hospital. One other feminine passenger, 43 years outdated, sustained critical non-life threatening accidents and was taken to a neighborhood hospital. A 58-year-old male passenger was unhurt. All 4 had been sporting seat belts.

The 19-year-old feminine driver of the GMC pickup sustained minor accidents and was not transported. She was sporting a seat belt.

Names of the six individuals concerned haven’t but been launched pending notification of relations.

The South Dakota Freeway Patrol continues to analyze the crash.
