North Dakota veterans remember time in service as brotherly bonds continue today

BISMARCK, N.D. (KFYR) – Via powerful missions and tough instances, folks can unite in new methods. The time two brothers from Mandan spent serving within the navy introduced them collectively and fostered brotherhood that continues to at the present time.

Veterans from throughout North Dakota arrived in Washington D.C. final week. Every individual on the journey has a narrative.

Roy began in 1956 on the Walker Air Drive Base in New Mexico. Richard began in 1963 as a part of the air police at Grand Forks Air Drive Base and later at a strategic Air Command Base in Goose Bay, Labrador.  They are saying additionally they had two brothers within the Military and one within the Navy. All at completely different instances.

“Roy went in about 10 years earlier than me. He was out partying by the point I went in,” laughed Richard Poppe.

The brothers say they made life-long pals whereas they served. Some they keep involved with to at the present time. They are saying to see different veterans in D.C. and spend time collectively now’s “humbling.”
