The North Dakota Department of Environmental Quality is asking the public to provide comments that will contribute to its 10-year strategy for water quality issues in the state’s surface waters.
The strategy will address how and why the agency will deal with a number of water quality issues in lakes and streams. The strategy will be used to structure water quality assessments and for planning.
Some of the issues it seeks to address include the presence of bacteria, sediment, harmful algal blooms, nitrogen and phosphorus pollution, metals, and per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances — also known as forever chemicals.
