Committee choses 6 finalists for North Dakota Board of Higher Education open seats

BISMARCK — A nominating committee chosen six finalists on Monday, Could 16, to fill the North Dakota’s Board of Increased Schooling’s two open seats.

The eight-member Board of Increased Schooling oversees the North Dakota College System, which encompasses 11 public universities and schools together with North Dakota State College and the College of North Dakota.

The state’s College System has an approximate annual enrollment of 61,000 college students and biennial funds of practically $2.7 billion, in line with the Division of Public Instruction.

The board could have two open seats — one previously held by

Jill Louters, who resigned final week,

and the opposite at the moment held by Danita Bye, who’s really helpful for an additional time period in her place.

Erika Kenner, Kevin Black and Curtis Biller as finalists for Louters’ seat and Sabina Gasper, Stanley Schauer and Bye herself for Bye’s seat.

The finalists can be forwarded to Gov. Doug Burgum, who appoints the eight board members.

The Board of Increased Schooling’s nominating committee contains State Superintendent Kirsten Baesler, North Dakota Supreme Court docket Chief Justice Jon Jensen, North Dakota United President Nick Archuleta, Rep. Kim Koppelman, R-West Fargo, and Sen. Larry Luick, R-Fairmount.
