NU Bests Purdue on the Road, 4-2 – University of Nebraska

West Lafayette, Ind. – The Nebraska males’s tennis staff (7-14, 3-3 Massive Ten) grabbed its third convention win of the season because it defeated the Purdue Boilermakers (Sep 11, 2-4 Massive Ten) 4-2 on the Schwartz Tennis Heart on Saturday afternoon.
 
Motion began with doubles play because the No. 2 staff of Shunya Maruyama and Dario Huber received the opening match towards Purdue’s Athell Bennett and Gabriele Brancatelli, 6-4. The pair has now received seven of their final eight doubles matches. Within the No. 3 spot, the duo of William Gleason and Calvin Mueller defeated Milledge Cossu and Tomasz Dudek, 6-3, to clinch the doubles level for Nebraska.
 
On the No. 1 court docket, Victor Moreno Lozano and Nic Wiedenhorn’s match was known as at 3-5 towards Purdue’s Michal Wozniak and Piotr Galus, and competitors continued with singles motion. 
 
In singles play, Huber dropped his match within the No. 1 spot to Bennett to offer the Boilermakers their first total level. Gleason then beat Wozniak at No. 6 in consecutive units, 6-2, 6-3, to seize the 2-1 Husker lead. On the No. 3 spot, Maruyama prolonged the profitable margin as he defeated Purdue’s Dudek, 7-5, 6-1. The Boilermakers battled to maintain the match shut as Brancatelli bested Mueller, 7-6 (3), 6-2 on Courtroom Two, and NU held a 3-2 lead with two matches remaining.
 
For the second-straight match, Roni Hietaranta rallied once more for the Huskers, forcing a 3rd set and defeating Purdue’s Galus, 3-6, 6-0, 6-2. Hietaranta’s win clinched the general match for the Huskers, and he continues to carry the team-high 12 wins. 
 
When the match concluded, Lozano and Sachdev every received a set at No. 4, and Lozano trialed 4-1 within the unfinished third set.  
 
Up subsequent, the Huskers keep in Indiana to face the Hoosiers on Sunday at 11 a.m. CT.
