NEBRASKA WILDFIRES: One killed, firefighters hurt, evacuations continue

LINCOLN, Neb. (NCN/KOLN) – Elements of south-central and southwest Nebraska are coping with giant wildfires, aided by excessive drought and excessive winds.

One individual died and three firefighters have been injured when wildfires erupted throughout 12 counties in Nebraska on Friday and Saturday. Their names haven’t been launched.

The Nebraska Emergency Administration Company studies blazes in Blaine, Brown, Cherry, Cheyenne, Deuel, Dundy, Furnas, Hayes, Perkins, Scotts Bluff, Crimson Willow and Thomas counties over a 24-hour interval.

Lively fires remained in Perkins, Hayes and Furnas, Crimson Willow, and Frontier counties as of three:30 p.m. Saturday. Cambridge residents confronted necessary evacuations for the second time in as many days Saturday afternoon.

The Nebraska Emergency Administration Company says the State Emergency Operations Heart has been activated to assist take care of managing the fires.

“A Advanced Incident Administration Workforce has been requested to help with managing the state’s response,” in response to a press launch. That’s along with members of the Nebraska Nationwide Guard being activated.

The Wildland Incident Response Help Workforce has deployed specialists to a number of of the fires. Early Saturday morning FEMA Area VII permitted the state’s request for a Hearth Administration Help Grant.
