Nebraska Rep. Don Bacon meets with OPPD
OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) — Congressman Bacon stopped by OPPD Saturday morning to debate what OPPD is doing to maintain our grid up and working throughout Nebraska’s extreme climate season.
OPPD was not too long ago awarded a $7.7 million federal group funding request to assist with energy grid resiliency throughout nasty climate. The funding from the request shall be used to interchange overhead conductors and set up a further recloser alongside 400 miles of energy traces.
“The entire objective right here is to maintain energy on whether or not it is tornadoes or ice storms,” mentioned Bacon. “We’re depending on electrical energy and that is to provide us extra resiliency, extra reliability with our energy grid.”
OPPD mentioned the enhancements will assist with restoration time after disasters, among the gear being changed is almost 80 years previous.
