Colorado Buffs BLASTED By Nebraska | Has Anything Really CHANGED From Last Year For Deion Sanders?

When the clock hit zeroes on a rivalry win over Colorado, the celebration began for Nebraska. The vibes were high in the Cornhuskers as music played, including “Perfect Timing” – recorded by Shedeur Sanders.

It was quite the victory lap for Nebraska after a 28-10 victory at Memorial Stadium. To Sanders, the Cornhuskers had the right to do so.

Since Nebraska won, Sanders said the Huskers could celebrate however they saw fit. It’s the nature of sports, which is why he didn’t think much of Colorado’s rival using his song in the locker room.

“I feel like they’re doing what they’re supposed to do. … Let them talk,” Sanders said on his 2Legendary podcast. “They’re supposed to. You’re winning. They’re winning, they’re supposed to be able to do that.

“There’s no reason to even get mad over that type of stuff. They basically are able to do that because of the position that they’re in. They’re winning the game, so let them do that. There’s nothing wrong with that because if the roles were flipped … you’ve got to be able to give and take. Whatever you give out, you’ve got to take that, too. That don’t really do anything. They just did what they were supposed to do.”

Sanders had a rough night in that loss to Nebraska. He completed 23 of 38 passes for 244 yards and a touchdown, but threw a costly pick-six. He also was sacked five times before Ryan Staub took over at quarterback.

But when it comes to the idea of “sore losers,” as his co-host Darius Sanders asked, Shedeur said that’s out of his control. While he said he “understands” how that could come up, he encouraged people to read thoroughly before making their decisions.

“We can’t change the media. We can’t change what’s right, what’s wrong, what they want to say – we can’t change that. I just advise for fans and for anybody to not read the caption. Listen to the words and really understand … because every headline that came out, I could understand it.

“I could understand why a lot of people would feel that way. But look at it from a fresh set of eyes, though.”

An eventful Saturday in Lincoln, Nebraska, saw the Cornhuskers defeat Colorado in a game that got out of hand in the first half. It allegedly got even more out of hand following the game. 

After the highly anticipated game between the two bitter rivals, there was an alleged incident between a Nebraska fan and a Colorado staffer that has come to light due to a social media post that was sent following the Buffaloes loss. 

According to a post from Corey Phillips, who is the director of player personnel for Colorado football, a Nebraska fan shouted a racial slur at the team and coaching staff after the game had concluded. 

“Losing is one thing, the use of the N-word towards our staff and kids ain’t a good look. Please be lucky my father told me to prepare myself not to respond! My man that let that word come flying out of your mouth,may God cover your troubled heart,” Phillips posted. 

The alleged incident occurred following the loss, and while the Colorado team was boarding their busses to head to the airport for their flight back to Boulder. According to BuffsBeat, sources detailed how the incident took place.

“Two sources confirmed details of the post game altercation to BuffsBeat,” the report stated. ” One of them said that Colorado players were loading the buses outside of Memorial Stadium when a Nebraska fan allegedly yelled out a racial slur in a profanity-laced rant before fleeing the area. Phillips was said to be assisting the Buffs players at the time of the incident.”

On Tuesday, Deion Sanders was asked about the alleged incident that came from his director of player personnel, and the Colorado head coach did not elaborate further on the situation. 

“Oh lord, alleged, what was that? You got to understand, whoever reported it. Was it one of our guys? I don’t know, what said? If they said it happened. When you guys say it happened, doesn’t it mean it happened?’ Sanders jokingly replied. “I don’t know anything about a racist, I try to stay out of the race stuff. I don’t like to play that card until I’m dealt that hand profoundly in-front of others.”

No video of the alleged incident has yet to surface online. 

Also, the report states that the University of Nebraska police department is aware of the alleged exchange, and OutKick has reached out to the department. 

There is certainly no place for any type of racism, and there are no excuses for the alleged incident.

Jones picked Nebraska over Oklahoma and counted offers from USC, Auburn, Iowa, Notre Dame and others. He’s ranked by the 247Sports Composite as the No. 161 prospect nationally and the 19th-best linebacker.

At 6 feet 2 and 215 pounds, Jones plays for the two-time defending Class A champion in Nebraska. Former Westside teammates Caleb Benning, Tristan Alvano, Jaylen Lloyd and Preston Okafor play for the Huskers.

Jones’ father, Dave Jones, played at Nebraska in the 1990s.

The Huskers were long locked in a recruiting battle with the Sooners for the younger Jones, who chose to wait on his decision until after he watched the opening stretch of play this college season.

Nebraska is 2-0 for the first time since 2019 after a 28-10 victory against Colorado on Saturday. The Huskers have allowed two touchdowns in two games.

Jones is the 19th member of Nebraska’s Class of 2025 and sixth from a Nebraska high school, joining defensive lineman Tyson Terry of Omaha North, athlete Jackson Carpenter of Lincoln Southwest, athlete Pierce Mooberry and safety Caden VerMaas, both of Millard North in Omaha, and athlete Conor Booth of Wahoo Bishop Neumann.

Jones fills a need for Nebraska at linebacker. He’s the first player at the position to commit in this class. The Huskers are set to lose seniors John Bullock and MJ Sherman at linebacker and possibly Javin Wright, who’s listed as a senior but has dealt with numerous injuries and medical issues in his career.
