Detroit Lions at Minnesota Vikings: Interim injury reports

Published

It’s Thursday. . .well, for a little longer, anyway. . .and that means it’s time for some updated injury reports. Both the Minnesota Vikings and the Detroit Lions have released their new reports ahead of Sunday’s game in Minneapolis, so let’s take a look and see what changes have been made.

Detroit Lions

Did Not Participate

  • CB Jerry Jacobs (hamstring)
  • C Frank Ragnow (knee/back/toe, downgrade from FP on Wednesday)
  • TE Brock Wright (hip)

Limited Participation

  • LB Derrick Barnes (shoulder)
  • FB Jason Cabinda (knee)
  • S C.J. Gardner-Johnson (pectoral)

Full Participation

  • DT Levi Onwuzurlke (knee, upgrade from LP on Wednesday)
  • OT Penei Sewell (shoulder, upgrade from LP on Wednesday)

The downgrade of Ragnow is sort of interesting, as it isn’t often you see a player go from full participation to not participating at all from the first to second injury report. His status for the Lions is definitely going to be worth keeping an eye on for Friday’s final report. Maybe the Lions are just giving him a day off in the middle of the week. The Lions did have a couple of players move up to the full participation level as well, including Sewell, who has turned into one of the league’s best.

Minnesota Vikings

Did Not Participate

  • RB Alexander Mattison (ankle)
  • CB Byron Murphy (knee)
  • WR Jalen Nailor (concussion)
  • OT Brian O’Neill (knee)
  • DT Harrison Phillips (back)

Limited Participation

  • DE Jonathan Bullard (ankle)
  • DT Sheldon Day (ankle)
  • LB Danielle Hunter (illness, upgrade from DNP on Wednesday)

Full Participation

The only upgrade on the report for the Vikings from Wednesday is Hunter, who appears to be getting over whatever illness he’s been dealing with and will be ready for Sunday. That still leaves a pretty disturbing amount of “DNPs” on the Vikings’ side of the ledger, so hopefully things will take a pretty dramatic turn on the final report for the Vikings or they’re going to be without a lot of key pieces.

Those are the second injury reports of the week for the Lions and the Vikings ahead of Sunday’s game, folks. We’ll have the final reports when they drop tomorrow.
