Augustana set to hire Minnesota assistant Garrett Raboin as first head coach

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. — Augustana now is aware of who will lead it into the Division-I males’s hockey period.

The Vikings are set to rent Minnesota assistant Garrett Raboin because the applications first-ever coach, a number of sources have instructed the Herald.

An official announcement is anticipated Tuesday.

Raboin, of Detroit Lakes, Minn., performed protection for 4 seasons at St. Cloud State, serving as workforce captain as each a junior and senior.

Raboin started his teaching profession in 2012 at St. Cloud State underneath head coach Bob Motzko. He spent six seasons with the Huskies, then adopted Motzko to Minnesota in 2018.

Raboin helped the Gophers to the NCAA Frozen 4 this spring.

Augustana is about to start play as an impartial program within the fall of 2023.

It already has a brand new area within the works. The plan is for the three,000-seat Midco Area to be open in time for the 2023-24 season.

Then, the Vikings will seek for convention affiliation. The Vikings are situated within the footprint of the Nationwide Collegiate Hockey Convention and the Central Collegiate Hockey Convention.
