Milwaukee Bucks’ Damian Lillard Reacts To Giannis Antetokounmpo, Khris Middleton Heroics Vs. Warriors
The Milwaukee Bucks had to dig deep on Saturday night as they hosted a Stephen Curry-less Golden State Warriors side at the Fiserv Forum. Despite not having their best player available, the Dubs still managed to put up a respectable challenge against the Bucks.
In the end, it required some late-game heroics from Giannis Antetokounmpo and Khris Middleton for the Bucks to secure a 129-118 victory.
Giannis, Middleton Come Through for Milwaukee Bucks
Saturday night’s bout turned out to be a back-and-forth battle between two unrelenting teams. The Bucks, however, used a 46-point surge in the final quarter to finally dispose of their opponents on the evening.
Giannis (33 points, nine rebounds) and Middleton (24 points, 10 assists) combined for 28 points in the final frame as the Bucks shot 19-of-27 in the fourth to close out Golden State. After the game, Damian Lillard could not help but heap praise on his superstar teammates after yet another heroic display in crunch time:
“I just think that that just shows our ability,” Lillard said, via Jim Owczarski of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. “We have the kind of talent on this team that we can have stretches like that. For us, it’s understanding the beauty of having that but also not leaning on that too much. It’s not often that you’re going to be able to go into a quarter and say all right, we’re going to make 19 field goals out of 27. That doesn’t happen often, no matter how good you are. It speaks to what we’re capable of, but it’s not something that we want to lean on to win the game.”
Lillard wasn’t bad himself either, going for 27 points on 9-of-19 shooting. The seven-time All-Star also logged six rebounds, seven assists, two steals, and just one turnover in 38 minutes of action.
If Milwaukee’s Big 3 keeps this up, this team will be very hard to beat.
