Brandtjen runs for Wis. Senate; seat represents northern Milwaukee suburbs
MADISON, Wis. – Wisconsin state Rep. Janel Brandtjen, who was kicked out of the Meeting GOP caucus by fellow Republicans who mentioned they misplaced belief in her after she pushed election conspiracy theories, is working for an open state Senate seat.
Brandtjen introduced her candidacy Monday for the seat representing northern Milwaukee suburbs created by the retirement of former Sen. Albert Darling. An April 4 particular election will decide the winner, who will serve the ultimate two years of Darling’s time period.
Brandtjen joins Republican state Rep. Dan Knodl, of Germantown, and Robert Albrightson, a Republican from Brown Deer, within the race. Democratic state Rep. Deb Andraca, who’s the third state consultant who lives within the state Senate district, determined in opposition to a run. There have been no introduced Democratic candidates as of Monday.
If no Democrats run, whoever among the many Republican candidates wins the Feb. 21 major will advance unopposed to the April 4 common election.

Brandtjen, of Menomonee Falls, is chair of the Meeting elections committee and led calls to decertify former President Donald Trump’s 2020 loss in Wisconsin. Brandtjen was endorsed by Trump in her reelection win this 12 months.
She has ceaselessly butted heads with Republican Meeting Speaker Robin Vos and different celebration leaders. Brandtjen endorsed Vos’s Republican major opponent. Republicans kicked Brandtjen out of the Meeting caucus final month.
