GRAND RAPIDS, MI – Many West Michigan school districts have closed Thursday, Jan. 23, because of a weeklong winter storm.
Some school districts have closed for the fourth day for weather. Many districts were closed Monday for the Martin Luther King Jr. federal holiday.
Schools in Kent, Ottawa, Muskegon, Allegan, Montcalm, Newayo and Van Buren counties are among those closed again.

Here is a look at some public school districts, charters and private schools that have announced closures as of 6:30 a.m. Thursday:
Kent County: Rockford, Grandville, Northview, Kenowa Hills, Comstock Park, Byron Center, Cedar Springs, Kent City, Sparta, Chandler Woods Charter Academy, West Michigan Academy of Environmental Science and Knapp Charter Academy, Vista Charter Academy, NorthPointe Christian and Rockford Christian.
Ottawa County: Hudsonville, West Ottawa , Zeeland, Holland, Jenison, Allendale, Coopersville, Spring Lake, Grand Haven, Black River Public Schools, Allendale Christian and Hudsonville Christian.
Muskegon County: Muskegon Area ISD, Muskegon Public Schools, Mona Shores, Ravenna, Fruitport, North Muskegon Public Schools Muskegon Heights Public Schools Academy, Oakridge and Holton.
Allegan County: Saugatuck, Hamilton

The National Weather Service in Grand Rapids said light snow is expected across West Michigan in the morning, with heavier snow south and west of Grand Rapids.

Late-effect snow showers are expected this afternoon, with additional accumulations along the lakeshore, heaviest on a line stretching from Grand Haven to Kalamazoo. Lake-effect snow will taper off farther away from Lake Michigan.
After frigid conditions much of the week, temperatures are expected to reach up to 25 degrees.
