Nominations open for minority, women-owned Kansas business awards

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) – The decision has opened for nominations for the 2022 Kansas Minority Enterprise Growth Week Awards.

On Monday, June 20, Lieutenant Governor and Division of Commerce Secretary David Toland says he opened the decision for nominations for the 2022 Kansas Minority Enterprise Growth Week Awards. He stated the annual awards are only one manner the Division celebrates the rising influence minority and women-led firms have on the Sunflower State’s economic system.

“Any time we have now a chance to shine the sunshine on all of the wonderful companies and businesspeople in our nice state is a win,” Toland stated. “Taking the time to acknowledge minority- and women-owned companies is essential to our success in highlighting and showcasing our Kansas communities and the individuals who make them thrive.”

Offered by the Division of Commerce’s Workplace of Minority and Girls Growth, Toland stated the awards are given to minority and women-owned companies within the following classes:

  • Manufacturing
  • Skilled Service
  • Retail
  • Service
  • Provider/Distributor
  • Younger Entrepreneur
  • Enterprise Advocate
  • Company of the Yr

“We wish to acknowledge minority- and women-owned companies which are working onerous to construct their firms and on the similar time contributing to their group as invaluable sources,” Workplace of Minority and Girls Enterprise Growth Director Rhonda Harris stated. “It is a nice time to say “Thanks” for all the pieces that they do, and we respect their dedication and imaginative and prescient to make their group and Kansas a greater place.

Toland famous that MED Week is well known nationally to acknowledge the greater than 9.2 million minority companies that assist the nation’s economic system and generate over $1.8 trillion in income. He stated the numerous influence of those companies interprets into the creation and upkeep of jobs.

The Lt. Gov. stated these jobs not solely maintain the person employee, but in addition contribute to the financial safety of their households, and the financial vitality of their communities and of the nation.

Toland indicated the Division will host an annual luncheon in November to acknowledge the numerous winners and have fun the contributions of ladies and minority-owned companies and communities all through Kansas.
