Ronald Ross Fox, age 68, a very long time resident of Brighton, presently of Ottumwa, Iowa, handed away Saturday, November 26, 2022, within the VA hospital after battling lung most cancers.

Ron was born in Washington, Iowa, January 27, 1954, the son of Vernon S and Lavondia L Simpson Fox. He grew up in Brighton, Iowa, and graduated from Washington Excessive College in 1972. Following commencement, he enlisted with very long time good friend Ken Grey in the USA Military. He accomplished his fundamental coaching in Ft. Ord California and was stationed at Ft. Sill, Oklahoma. He was a proud veteran of the Vietnam Warfare. He was honorably discharged in 1975, attaining the rank of Sergeant E5. Ron’s expertise within the Military performed a vital position in his life. The Military taught him the worth of self-discipline, dedication and onerous work.

Upon returning residence, he began working at Keating Metal Fabrication, as a self taught welder. He married Linda Lyon Fox in 1976, they usually have been later divorced.

In 1990, he opened his personal enterprise Fox Match It Store, serving the native farmers repairing farm gear. He retired in 2010 after 34 years of welding. After retirement, he moved to Ottumwa, Iowa. He stayed busy working on the Co-Op and driving building crews round Iowa. He loved woodworking, fishing, boating, tenting, mushrooming, touring and spending time with household.

In 2022, he had the privilege to participate within the Japanese Iowa Honor Flight to Washington DC. He was accompanied by veteran good friend, Alicia Jacobs, who helped him on the journey.

He’s survived by his youngsters, Brian Fox of Brighton and Erica Hammes (Seth) of Ollie; three grandchildren, Ryann, Kailyn and Tristan; two brothers, Randy Fox (Tracy) of Brighton and Roy Fox (Rebecca) of Savannah, GA; nieces, nephews and buddies.

He was preceded in demise by his dad and mom, two brothers; and daughter, Jennifer.

Funeral providers can be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday December 1, 2022, on the Brighton Group Church with Rev. Rick Zickefoose officiating. Burial will comply with at Sandy Hook Cemetery north of Brighton. Visitation can be held Wednesday night at Gould Funeral Dwelling in Brighton from 6:30 to eight p.m. Memorials to American Legion Submit No. 29 could also be left on the funeral residence or Church or mailed to the household at 201 South Harrison Avenue, Brighton, IA 52540.
