Indiana women’s basketball gets transfer Shay Ciezki from Penn State
BLOOMINGTON — The Indiana women’s basketball team got a verbal commitment on Thursday night from Penn State guard Shay Ciezki.
Ciezki announced her decision on social media.
She fills a void in the backcourt in the wake of Sara Scalia’s departure as a proven sharpshooter. Ciezki ranks third all-time in PSU history in career 3-point percentage (41.6%). Ciezki has averaged 2.1 made 3-pointers in each of the last two seasons while averaging 11.6 points per game during that stretch.
Indiana led the country in team 3-point shooting last season (39.6%) and ranked 24th in made 3-pointers. Scalia averaged 3.2 3-pointers per game, but IU had three other starters — Yarden Garzon, Sydney Parrish and Chloe Moore-McNeil — average at least one made 3-pointer a game. They also all shot better than 40% from the 3-point range last season.
Ciezki signed with Penn State coming out of St. Mary’s High School in New York. The four-year starter led the team to the Class A State Championship as a senior where she scored 51 points. She set the school record for career points (2,138), assists (478), steals (381) and 3-pointers made (244).
The news comes on the heels of Indiana announcing it had signed Tennessee forward Karoline Striplin, a 6-foot-3 forward with one year of eligibility left. Striplin averaged 7.2 points and 3.1 rebounds per game and gives the Hoosiers some added depth in the front court after losing Mackenzie Holmes.

How To Watch
What to Know
On Monday, the New York Knicks will fight it out against the Indiana Pacers in an Eastern Conference playoff contest at 7:30 p.m. ET at Madison Square Garden. Coming in fresh off a victory as the underdog, the Knicks will stroll into this one as the favorite.
The Knicks are headed into the game having just posted their closest win since February 26th on Thursday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 118-115 victory over the 76ers.
The Knicks’ win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jalen Brunson, who dropped a double-double on 41 points and 12 assists. That means Brunson has scored a third or more of the Knicks’ points for four games straight. Donte DiVincenzo was another key contributor, scoring 23 points along with seven assists and three blocks.
Meanwhile, there’s no place like home for the Pacers, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road on Tuesday. They were the clear victor by a 120-98 margin over the Bucks on Thursday.
T.J. McConnell was the offensive standout of the matchup as he almost dropped a double-double on 20 points and nine assists. He didn’t help the Pacers’ cause all that much against the Bucks on Tuesday but the same can’t be said for this match.
The Knicks and the Pacers will be playing the first game of their best-of-seven series on Monday. Check back on CBS Sports to see who will be starting their playoff series on the wrong foot.

National recruiting analyst logs crystal ball for Langdon Hatton to Indiana
A notable national recruiting analyst has logged a crystal ball projection for Bellarmine transfer Langdon Hatton to choose Indiana.
Travis Branham of 247Sports logged the projection on Sunday, May 5 for Hatton to commit to Indiana.
A native of Georgetown, Indiana who played at North Harrison, Hatton began his college career at William & Mary before transferring to play for Scott Davenport at Bellarmine for the last two seasons.
The 6-foot-10, 240-pound forward averaged 10.5 points, 7.1 rebounds, and 1.3 assists last season for the Knights. He shot 48 percent from the field, 33.3 percent from the 3-point line and 67.5 percent from the free-throw line.
Hatton has one season of eligibility remaining. He’s started 43 of the 94 career college games he’s played in.
Over his three seasons, he’s averaged 6.1 points, four rebounds and is a 49.1 percent shooter from the field. At Indiana, he would fill a vital role as a backup to Malik Reneau and Oumar Ballo.
Hatton has yet to visit Bloomington but is expected to be on campus soon.
At North Harrison, Hatton was named an IBCA senior all-state selection in his final prep season and was invited to Hoosier Basketball Magazine’s top 60 workout.
According to reports, Hatton has drawn significant interest in the transfer portal with Louisville, Ohio State, Cincinnati, and Xavier among the lengthy list of schools in contact.
Indiana has two scholarships open for next season’s roster.
