Illinois lawmakers seek to waive records fees for domestic violence survivors
CHICAGO (CBS) — Proposed laws in Illinois would be certain that home violence survivors will not should pay for all these paperwork they should get away from their abusers.

A proposal co-sponsored by Illinois State Sen. Dave Koehler (D-Peoria) would waive these charges for home violence survivors.
“Home violence survivors are already coping with immense trauma,” Koehler stated in an announcement. “Why are we taking cash out of their pockets, including extra burdens to the reporting course of?”
The measure cleared the Senate Native Authorities Committee on Wednesday, and now goes to the complete Senate.
The Home unanimously handed it in March, so if the Senate follows swimsuit, it might go to Gov. JB Pritzker for consideration.
