PEORIA (25News Now) – A Peoria Fire Department dive team pulled the body of a man from the Illinois River Monday afternoon.

Three teenagers walking along the Riverfront in back of Martinis on Water Street saw a body in the water and called 911 about 2:30 p.m. said Peoria Fire Chief Shawn Sollberger.

Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood said the man, believed to be between 50 and 60, did not have an ID, but clues helped authorities identify him. Harwood said they’re trying to find the man’s family.

Harwood said there were no obvious signs of trauma on the man’s body. He had been in the water for less than a day, the coroner said.
