NFL less understanding of Jameson Williams than his Detroit Lions coach

Detroit Lions wide receiver Jameson Williams got a 15-yard penalty for taunting Chicago Bears cornerback Tyrique Stevenson for the second time this season on Sunday. The former Alabama All-American got the first during the Lions’ 23-20 victory over the Bears on Nov. 28, then picked up another in a 34-17 win on Sunday.

“He was great,” Detroit coach Dan Campbell said about his sideline talk with Williams after Sunday’s penalty. “Came over and it’s just, ‘Look, you can’t give them a free ride.’ He knew. It’s just, ‘Get it out of the way and get back on the field.’ And he was good.

“That’s what I love about him. He doesn’t get bent out of shape. He just said, ‘I got it.’ And he goes back in and it doesn’t affect the way he played the rest of the game. He was great. I love where he’s at right now. I really do.”

The NFL was not as understanding. Williams was fined $11,255 for the infraction, the league announced on Saturday. The NFL did not fine Williams for his taunting penalty on Nov. 28.

Williams wasn’t the only former Alabama standout fined by the NFL for taunting during a Week 16 game. Baltimore Ravens cornerback Marlon Humphrey, a former Hoover High School star, also was fined $11,255 for taunting. Humphrey was not penalized during the game for the transgression, but the NFL still imposed the fine after the cornerback held out the football behind him toward his pursuers as he returned an interception for a touchdown in a 34-17 victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers on Saturday.

Two other players from Alabama high schools and colleges were among the 22 fined by the NFL for Week 16.

Pittsburgh Steelers safety Minkah Fitzpatrick (Alabama) got an $11,255 penalty for a face-mask penalty.

Green Bay Packers defensive lineman Colby Wooden (Auburn) got a $6,150 fine for an unnecessary-roughness penalty.

The NFL uses a collectively bargained schedule of fines to determine the amount of monetary punishment. The NFL’s Schedule of Fines also comes with a list of aggravating and mitigating factors that can affect the size of a fine.

Megan Moroney’s newly announced “Cloud 9” 2026 tour schedule includes concerts at Van Andel and Little Caesars Arena.

Country artist Megan Moroney recently released 2026 tour dates in support of her forthcoming album, “Cloud 9,” set to come out February 20. The North American trek opens Friday, May 29 at the Schottenstein Center in Columbus, Ohio, and includes performances at the United Center in Chicago, the American Family Insurance Amphitheater in Milwaukee, the Kia Center in Orlando, Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, and more by the North American finale slated for Friday, August 21 at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville.

Moroney is also scheduled to play two Michigan venues throughout the “Cloud 9” route, starting Friday, June 19 at Van Andel Arena in Grand Rapids, and returning to the state Tuesday, August 18 for a show at Little Caesars Arena in Detroit. After completing U.S. and Canada dates, the “Tennessee Orange” singer will kick off the next leg Sunday, September 13 at Sentrum Scene in Oslo, Norway.

North American tickets go on sale Friday, December 12 at 10 a.m. local time on meganmoroney.com/#tour. Artist Presale runs from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Thursday, December 11. Fans can shop the new tour dates on Ticketmaster and SeatGeek.

Detroit Medical Center tightens visitor policies as Michigan flu cases surge

New visitor rules aim to curb flu spread

DETROIT – The Detroit Medical Center is tightening its visitor policies amid a surge in flu cases across Michigan.

This comes as the state reports its highest number of child flu deaths in 20 years.

Patients are allowed up to two visitors at any one time.
Visitors ages 12 and under are not allowed on inpatient hospital floors or in observation units.
Visitors ages 13 and older who have a fever, cough, or rash are asked not to visit.
All visitors with illness or cold symptoms are also asked to refrain from visiting.

“We’ve seen an uptick rate over about three or four consecutive weeks, where the test positivity rate started in the small two to four percent range, later went up to about nine percent, thirteen percent two weeks ago, and we were close to twenty-one percent last week,” said Chief Medical Officer at Children’s Hospital Michigan Dr. Rudolph Valentini. “This is the time to get your flu shot. Please protect yourself and our community and your friends and family by getting your flu shot because the flu is here.”
