“Mustache Mommy” in Lapeer County up for America’s Favorite Pet

(CBS DETROIT) – Each once in a while, you may catch an animal with fur so distinctive, it will get named after it.

Albert Einstein, Hulk Hogan, Ron Burgundy and Mustache Mommy. All are recognized for flaunting these caterpillars, dusters, and taste savors — mustaches.

It is facial hair like Mustache Mommy’s that earned her a nomination for the subsequent America’s Favourite Pet.

“I put her on there and I feel it was inside 24 hours she was in first place,” says Kari Oettel, the proud mom of Mustache Mommy and founding father of Bitter Patch Kitties Rescue and Rehab in Lapeer. Nonetheless, Oettel is not the primary one who sorted the feline with a mustache.

Doris Fowler misplaced her battle with most cancers in October 2022. She sorted Mustache Mommy and three different cats who lived outdoors of her residence. When Fowler fell in poor health, she discovered Oettel and wished nothing greater than for her favourite cat to be within the arms of a loving proprietor and caretaker.

“She begged me to maintain this cat just about. She cherished this cat,” stated Oettel. She says the submission for America’s Favourite Pet is to honor Fowler’s lifelong dedication to caring for felines.
