Majority of severe weather alerts cancelled in Northeast Ohio

Severe weather alerts were issued across Northeast Ohio as storms pummeled large swaths of the viewing area.

Some storms produced hail as large as 1.75 inches.

Most Severe Thunderstorm Warnings and Watches were cancelled around 10:30 p.m.

Tuscawaras County still has a Severe Thunderstorm Warning issued until 11:15 p.m.

At 7:11 p.m., a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located near Port Clinton and Vickery, moving east at 45 mph, according to the NWS. Hazards included a tornado and golf ball size hail.

The severe weather caused power outages throughout the region.

These outages are still persisting; First Energy is reporting the following outages as of 10 p.m.:

Lucas County – 8,309

Huron County – 3,579

Erie County – 1,534

Ottawa County – 1,185

Cuyahoga County – 269

Road conditions
According to a Twitter post from the Ohio Turnpike, the turnpike is closed in the westbound direction due to downed power lines. Westbound travelers can exit at Toll Plaza 110 or Toll Plaza 118 near Sandusky.
