Jay Leno opens up about recovery after horrifying car fire accident : ‘I got a face full of gas’
CLEVELAND, Ohio– Jay Leno lastly opens up in regards to the horrifying automobile hearth accident that left him with extreme burn accidents this previous November.
The previous Tonight Present host stopped by the As we speak present on Wednesday to talk with Hoda Kotb a few gasoline hearth that occurred whereas he was engaged on of his collectible automobiles, which induced him to maintain vital burns to his face, arms, and fingers.
“It was a 1907 White Steam Automobile,” Leno informed Kotb. “The gas line was clogged, so I used to be beneath it. It sounded clogged, and I stated, ‘Blow some air by the road.’”
Leno stated he was bumped into with a “face filled with gasoline.”
“After which the pilot gentle jumped, and my face caught on hearth,” Leno continued.
Fortunately his longtime buddy, Dave Killackey, was proper there to assist.
“I stated to my buddy, I stated, ‘Dave, I’m on hearth,’” Leno remembers. “And Dave’s like, ‘All proper.’ I stated, ‘No, Dave, I’m on hearth.’ After which, ‘Oh, my God.’ Dave, my buddy, pulled me out and jumped on prime of me and type of smothered the fireplace.”
But it surely doesn’t cease there. Leno then revealed after the terrifying incident he drove himself dwelling earlier than being admitted to Grossman Burn Middle in Los Angeles.
Leno spent practically ten days within the hospital earlier than he was launched to an outpatient care facility final month.

Karen N. (nee Ahern) Klyn, age 84 of Painesville Twp., passed away on July 28, 2024 at University Hospitals TriPoint Medical Center in Concord Twp., OH. She was born on April 12, 1940 in Cleveland, OH.Mrs. Klyn had worked as a registered nurse at the former Mt. Sinai Hospital in Cleveland and later as a diabetic educator at both St. Vincent Charity Hospital in Cleveland and the Lake County Free Clinic in Painesville. Mrs. Klyn had volunteered for the Christ Child Society, Hope Chest, and the Free Clinic. She enjoyed shopping, watching movies, drinking wine and eating cheese, a good dance party and helping others.
