Guardians’ game vs. Diamondbacks postponed; doubleheader set for Wednesday
CLEVELAND, Ohio — The Guardians and Diamondbacks will play a doubleheader beginning at 1:10 p.m. on Wednesday after rain and severe weather forced the postponement of Tuesday’s regularly-scheduled matchup.
Gates will open at 12:10 p.m. ET and only fans with tickets to the originally scheduled August 7 contest will be able to attend the traditional twin bill.
Fans will be able to use the full value of their August 6 (Tuesday) tickets in the Guardians My Tickets account when exchanging into one of eight designated games, including Wednesday’s doubleheader.
Tickets for Tuesday’s game must be exchanged by 5 p.m. on Aug. 30.
Heavy storms moved through downtown Cleveland several hours before the scheduled first pitch, and the threat of more rain forced officials to eventually postpone Tuesday’s game.
Guardians players and coaches were taking infield practice just before 4 p.m. when grounds crew members pulled the tarp across the field and ballpark workers were instructed via the public address system to seek shelter below the main concourse.
According to the National Weather Service, conditions that could potentially produce a tornado were spotted in the area including wind gusts in excess of 60 mph. An announcement that the game would officially begin in a delay was made at 5:48 p.m. Officials postponed the contest at 8:15 p.m.
Right-hander Ben Lively (10-6, 3.42) will start Wednesday’s first game for Cleveland. Righty Carlos Carrasco (3-9, 5.53) will start game two.
Arizona will send righty Brandon Pfaadt (5-6, 3.97) to the mound in game. Lefty Eduardo Rodriguez, who signed a four-year, $80 million contract with Arizona in the offseason, will make his season debut for the Diamondbacks in game two.
Cleveland optioned Monday’s starting pitcher, Logan Allen, back to Triple-A on Tuesday afternoon, selecting the contract of LHP Anthony Gose from Columbus and designating righty Xzavion Curry for assignment.

LIST: Dispensaries start recreational cannabis sales Tuesday
CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) – Adult-use cannabis sales are slated to start in Ohio as soon as Tuesday, according to a notice sent from the Division of Cannabis Control.
A notice of intent to issue a certificate of operation hit the inbox of Beckett Salchak, manager of Ohio Cannabis Company in Canton Friday morning.
At around 11 a.m., Salchak was notified of a temporary authorization to operate beginning August 6 with a dual-use dispensary license.
Back in May, the deadline for application for a dual-use license was set for around June 7.
According to 19 News’s previous coverage, medical dispensaries will be the first to receive approval for adult sale.
At 11:40 a.m. Friday, the Division of Cannabis Control confirmed that non-medical sales in Ohio have not begun yet.
James Crawford of the Ohio Department of Commerce said that no dispensary has received its dual-use certificate needed to sell non-medical cannabis.
At 1:06 p.m. Friday, Crawford issued the following, amended statement:
We intend to issue the first set of non-medical licenses on Tuesday. There will be no sales over the weekend. We will provide a formal announcement on Monday. Once dispensaries receive their Certificate of Operation, the Division of Cannabis Control will be updating this map showing which dispensaries are open to adult-use customers.
As of Friday, applicants who received the notice, like the Ohio Cannabis Company, will be preparing for Tuesday.
Below is a list of all 98 places that will be licensed to sell cannabis for adult-use on Tuesday.
