Cleveland mother mourns after 14-year-old son fatally shot: ‘I am an emotional wreck’
CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) – Cleveland police are investigating the death of a 14-year-old boy. Braylon Hardges was shot and killed Sunday.
“He was an awesome kid, I never had any problems out of baby, that’s why I don’t understand why, I just want to ask why,” said Seaerra LeFlore.
Hardges died at University Hospitals.
“I haven’t held him, I can’t tell you what he looks like, I am on day two and I am an emotional wreck,” said Leflore.“My birthday just passed on the 26th and I woke up that day with five kids, now I am down to four.”
Hardges was shot just before 6:30 p.m. near East 90th and Edmunds.
“My son loved football. He wanted to be a football player, said LeFlore.
Hardges was a member of East 88th Street Browns Football team. He practiced at Thurgood Marshall recreation center. He won a trophy last year.
“Braylon didn’t mess with nobody, nobody.”
Leflore is begging for financial and emotional support.
“Any support, any help, even if it’s not money, open up you recreation center for my baby, a balloon release, any community support, we are going to need counseling after this,” said Leflore.
Hardges was shot several times. Police say there are no arrests.
